The combination of Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift combines the best of both procedures. Breast Augmentation uses a Breast Implant to provide the missing volume, while the Breast Lift corrects problems with shape or sagging. Here’s how it works:
Breast Augmentation does one thing. It provides volume and support to the breast with the placement of a Breast Implant. The size and shape of the Breast Implant can be varied depending on your goals. If the breast is too small, sufficient volume is selected to increase to the desired cup size. In this case, the majority of the final breast volume may come from the Breast Implant. On the other hand, if the breast is close to the desired size, but lacks upper pole fullness, a smaller implant can be utilized to selectively fill the upper breast. The majority of the final breast volume in this case comes from your own breast tissue, and the Breast Implant is used to restore fullness in the upper chest, and improve the overall shape and proportion of the breast.
Breast Lifts (Mastopexies) are used to improve the shape of the breasts. A Breast Lift can bring a drooping breast back up onto the chest, and position the drooping nipple and areola higher on the breast. There are many types of Breast Lifts, and which to choose will depend on how much sagging needs to be corrected. The combination of Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift works synergistically. The additional volume that the Breast Implant provides can often augment the support for the breast, and this may mean that a “smaller” lift will do the job.
