Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
The Breast Lift is used to correct sagging and to improve the shape of the breasts. Often a Breast Lift is restorative, and is performed after pregnancy or weight loss when breast has lost volume and support and appears deflated. In these situations, a Mastopexy restores the more youthful perkiness that is lost when the skin stretches. If an increase in size is desired, a Breast Implant can be added at the same time. The are times when a Breast Lift is more reconstructive. A Mastopexy may be performed to correct a congenital deformity such as Poland Syndrome or Tubular Breasts. For women treated with a mastectomy for breast cancer, a Breast Lift is often performed on the opposite, normal breast, to help it better match the reconstructed breast. Mastopexies are also an integral part of Breast Reduction surgery. Without the Breast Lift, Breast Reduction would leave a deflated breast with excess, loose skin, not the smaller and more shapely breasts we expect.
