Breast Augmentation Revision
Breast Augmentation Revision Surgery is a collection of surgical procedures used to improve the results of Breast Augmentation. One of the most common Breast Implant Revsion surgeries is also one of the simplest – Breast Implant Replacement. This is often done to change the size of intact Breast Implants, but can also be done when a Breast Implant Deflates or Leaks. Since the old Breast Implants are already in the right position, the new Breast Implants are placed right into the existing pocket, often with very little discomfort and down-time.
Breast Augmentation Revision is also performed for Capsular Contracture and Breast Implant Malposition. Capsular Contracture occurs when the scar around the Breast Implant contracts, making the pocket containing the implant too tight. This can lead to increased firmness, changes in shape and even malposition of the Breast Implant. Breast Augmentation Revision is used to soften the breasts, restore a more natural shape and to reposition the breast implant optimally on the chest.
Breast Implant Malposition means the implant is in the wrong place. They can be too high, too low (bottoming out or double bubble), too wide apart causing large gap between the breasts or too close together (Symmastia, Uniboob or Bread Loafing). Breast Augmentation Revision is used to reposition the Breast Implants and support them to help prevent recurrence.
Sometimes the Breast Implant is in the right place, but the natural breast tissue has dropped. This is common after pregnancy or after significant weight loss both from diet and exercise and after bariatric surgery. Breast Augmentation Revision in this situation may be limited to a Breast Lift, with or without an implant exchange.
